Harvey Wright of Winterset, a well-known Winterset business man and public official over a long period of years, died Sunday, September 10, at Madison Manor North. He was 84 years of age.
Mr. Wright was a native of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, where he was born January 2, 1888, a son of W. B. and Sally Wright. He has lived in Madison county for 60 years.
Mr. Wright operated the Buick garage in Winterset for 10 years. He was elected Madison County sheriff, serving from 1915 to 1922. After that he operated a hatchery at Winterset for 20 years before his retirement.
He was married at Winterset on June 15, 1921 to Lucille Trester, who survives.
Mr. Wright was a 50-year member of the Masonic lodge.
In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, Harrell Wright of Chicago; a daughter, Mrs. Ronald Hughes of Urbandale; four grandchildren; and a brother, John S. Wright of Blair, Nebraska. One daughter preceded him death in 1935.
Funeral services were held this Tuesday from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John E. Fink, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery, with Masonic ritual at the grave-side.

WINTERSET – Harvey Wright, 84, of Winterset, died there Saturday night. He was a former Madison county sheriff and in recent years had operated Wright’s hatchery there.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Collins funeral home at Winterset. Burial will be in the Winterset cemetery.
Mr. Wright is survived by his widow and two children, Mrs. Ronald (Carol) Hughes of Urbandale and Harold Wright of Chicago, Ill.
