Elton H. Woody of Glenwood, a Winterset business man for more than 30 years, died May 26, at Omaha. He was 82 years of age.

Mr. Woody was a Winterset resident during most of his active life. He engaged in the retail shoe business here, in partnership with Ralph Thompson, until his retirement in 1959.

He was a native of Lake City, where he was born Jan. 27, 1891, a son of Levi and Francena Allee Woody. He was married in 1927 to Mary Alice Koser of Winterset whose death occurred in 1956. They were parents of a son William E. Woody, now of Wauwatasa, Wisc.

His second marriage to Virgie Lugsch of Glenwood, occurred in 1961. She survives him.

He was a member of the First United Presbyterian church of Winterset, and of the Masonic lodge here. He served in the U.S. armed forces during World War I.

In addition to his wife and son, he leaves two step-children, William Lugsch of Wheatridge, Colo., and Mrs. Robert L. Graham of Glenwood; a sister, Mrs. Myron Hayes of Creston; three grandchildren; and five step-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held May 29 from the Peterson mortuary in Glenwood, conducted by the Rev. Clyde Harmon. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery, with grave-side services, that afternoon.
