Phyllis M. Woodman, 79 of Winterset, Iowa, died Aug. 4, 2003, at Mercy Hospice in Johnston, Iowa.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, at the Peru Cemetery in Peru, Iowa, where pastor Robert Barrick will officiate. A luncheon will be held at the Peru United Methodist Church folowing services, where the family will be present to receive friends. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or Middle River Hospice of Winterset.
Phyllis was born in Madison County, Iowa, on Nov. 18, 1923, the daughter of Burl E. and Cecil M. (Brown) See. She graduated from Winterset High School in 1941. She lived and worked in California during World War II, returned to Iowa, the moved to Texas in 1949. She married William E. Woodman in Austin, Texas, and lived in San Antonio, until returning to Iowa in 1976. To this union one son was born, Stephen, on Sept. 19, 1951. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winterset, Susanna Circle, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, American Legion Auxiliary, as well as other organizations.
She is survived by a stepson, Bill Woodman Jr. and wife Nancy of Mickleton, New Jersey; two nephews, Alan See and wife Vicky and Keith Datwyler and wife JoAnn, all of Peru, Iowa; sister-in-law Florence Krohn of Prairie City, Iowa; and eight additonal nieces and nephews on her husband's side.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Burl and Cecil; her husband, William, on March 15, 1986; a son, Stephen B. Woodman, on Dec. 9, 1976; a sister, Marjorie Datwyler; and a brother, Wendell See.
