Louisa Dodds was born in Cambridgeshire, England, January 1828, and died at her home near Winterset, Ia., May 18th, 1906. She was married to Jacob H. Hircock, April 10, 1851, at Cambridgeshire, England, who died Dec. 18th, 1898. She came to America in the fall of 1854 with her husband and oldest daughter. Eight children were born to this union, five sons and three daughters. The oldest son died in infancy and the oldest daughter at the age of twenty-six. She leaves to mourn her loss, four sons, two daughters, seventeen grandchildren and one great-grandson. Her children were all at her bedside when the summons came.
The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. Fred Berry and she was laid to rest in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs. Louisa Hircock, an old resident and respected citizen of Madison county, passed away at her home on the Bluffs road, three miles west of Winterset on last Friday, at the age of seventy-eight years.
Funeral services were held from the home on Sunday afternoon conducted by Rev. Fred Berry of the Baptist church. The deceased is survived by four sons and two daughters. Thomas, William, Culy and Charles are all residents of this county.
