Obituary of Mrs. Moses Bailey

After forty nine years as a resident of Madison county, death has called away from our midst, Mrs. Moses Bailey. Once a resident of Winterset from 1855 until 1870, when the family moved about a mile north of the city, where the messenger of death called for her Aug. 8, 1911.

Mary Chandler was born Dec. 19, 1831 in Belmont county, Ohio. She was married to Moses Bailey, Jan. 1, 1853. They came to Winterset in 1855, where they lived till in May 1870, when they removed to the farm, where she resided until her death.

There were born to them eleven children; Russell, Edward and William, Mrs. Elizabeth Eyerly and Clara Eyerly. The other six have gone on before. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. E. E. Bennett a former pastor of the Christian church of which Mrs. Bailey was a member, having united with it many years ago. The remains after the service at the church were laid to rest in the Rock City cemetery.

Death of Mrs. Moses Bailey

The death of Mrs. Moses Bailey occurred on Tuesday of this week. Funeral services were held this afternoon at the Christian church and burial in the Winterset cemetery. Mrs. Bailey was one of the very early settlers of Madison county, Mr. Bailey being a jewelry merchant in Winterset in the early fifties. She is survived by the husband and four children.
