KAY CUNNINGHAM Died Sunday

Mrs. Peter J. Cunningham of Winterset, a life-long resident of Madison County, died Sunday, Aug. 23, 1970, at Jennie Edmundson Memorial hospital in Council Bluffs. She was 59 years of age.

Mrs. Cunningham's death occurred three days after she was injured in an automobile accident on Highway 92 near Griswold, last Thursday, in which the car in which she was riding, driven by her husband, collided with a truck. Mr. Cunningham was also seriously injured in the accident, and was taken to a Council Bluffs hospital.

Mrs. Cunningham was the former Katherine Marie Breen daughter of Michael and Margaret Johnson Breen, and was born in Madison township April 7, 1911. In her early life the family moved to Winterset, and she attended the Winterset schools, including the first two years of Winterset High school. She graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Des Moines. She attended Drake university in Des Moines for two years, after which she taught school in Vail and at St. Marys. She was a member of the Chi Omega sorority.

She was married to Peter J. Cunningham here on Sept. 7, 1937.

She was a life-long member of St. Joseph's Catholic church in Winterset, and was active in the Altar and Rosary society. Her social organizations included the Progressive Study Club.

Mrs. Cunningham is survived by her husband; three children, Mrs. Duane Gunter of Grand Rapids, Mich., P. J. Cunningham of Lincoln, Nebr., and Michael Cunningham of St. Paul, Minn.; and five grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Mrs. John Nolan of Guthrie Center and Mrs Charles Beeler of Winterset; and three brothers, John and Raymond Breen of Houston, Tex., and Robert Breen of Des Moines.

Rosary will be recited this Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the Collins Funeral home for Mrs. Cunningham. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Catholic church, with the pastor, the V. Rev. Msgr. John W. Higgins officiting. Burial will be made in the Winterset Cemetery.
