VAVA SHADE DIED THURSDAY

Mrs. Vava G. Shade of Winterset died last Thursday, Sept. 24, at Madison Manor here. She was 74 years of age.

Mrs. Shade was a life-time resident of Madison county. She was the former Vava G. Delaplain, daughter of Lawyel M. Louella Kirk Delaplain, and was born at Peru April 21, 1896.

She was married on Dec. 25, 1913, to Floyd E. Cosand. Her second marriage, to George W. Shade, occurred Aug. 12, 1927. His death occurred April 4, 1969.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Clark Dowler and Mrs. Dean Eckles of Winterset; a son, Dale W. Cosand of New York, N.Y.; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. One son, Claire Cosand, preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist church and of the Royal Neighbor lodge.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in the Peru cemetery.
