Death Occurred Here Sunday After Several Weeks of Ill Health
James D. Porter of Winterset, a life-long resident of Madison and Adair counties, died Sunday, Dec. 1, at a nursing home here. He had been ill about one month.
Mr. Porter was 67 years of age at his death. He was born in Adair county on July 27, 1890, a son of David and Florence Julian Porter. He was married Nov. 26, 1913, to Fern Faye.
He leaves three daughters, Mrs. Joy Croat of Missouri, Mrs. Dorothy Allen of California, and Mrs. Ruth Lucas of Winterset; three sons, Cecil, James and John Porter, all of Winterset; 16 grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Harl Dorsey, Mrs. Albert Foster and Mary Hall, all of Greenfield; and a brother, George Porter of Stuart.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. Warren Hile, pastor of the Winterset Christian church. Burial was to be made in Adair county.
