Lex Raber Died Here Saturday

Long Illness Ends for Union Township Resident, at Age of 61 Years

Lex F. Raber, a Madison county resident for 21 years, died Saturday, Nov. 2, at Memorial hospital in Winterset, after a lingering illness. He was 61 years of age.

Mr. Raber was a native of Campbell, Nebr., where he was born June 12, 1896, a son of George C. and Fanny Thornton Raber.

Most of his life was spent in farming in Madison and Adair counties. For the last 10 years he had been employed in road construction work in Madison county.

In 1915 he was married to Gladys Noel. They were parents of eight children. The wife and mother died in 1934. His second marriage was to Leona Baker, on Jan. 11, 1936. They were parents of three children.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Leona Raber; eight daughters, Mrs. Edwin Bridges of Marshalltown, Mrs. Glenn Hunerdosse of Guthrie Center, Mrs. Ray McCullough of Des Moines, Mrs. Wayne Golightly of Van Meter, Mrs. Ward Partridge of North Judson, Ind., Mrs. Lloyd Anderson of Des Moines, Mrs. Norman Hildebrand of Winterset, and Bonnie Raber at home; and three sons, Earl Raber of Waukee and Howard and Dannie Raber of Winterset; three brothers, Harold Raber of Upland, Nebr., Ralph Raber of Kellogg, and Doice Raber of Stuart; two sisters, Mrs. Orville Godwin of Newton and Mrs. Walter Davis of Salida, Colo.; and 22 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Monday from Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made at Redfield.
