Mrs. Philip Brittain, a life-long resident of Winterset and Madison county, died Thursday, Feb. 22, 1962, at her home in Jefferson township. She was 36 years of age.
Mrs. Brittain was the former Cleta Peterson, daughter of Clarence and Olga Berry Peterson. She was born Feb. 19, 1926, at Barney. Her early life was spent in Winterset, where she graduated from high school.
She was married July 30, 1944, to Philip E. Brittain. Since then they had made their home on a farm in Jefferson township.
She was a member of the Winterset Methodist church.
Surviving are her husband; three children, Philip Clark, aged 13, Babetta Valda, aged 12, and Margo Reneet, aged 8; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Peterson of Winterset, and four brothers and sisters, Clark Peterson of Winterset, Mrs. Clara Post of Des Moines, Mrs. Clella Rogers of Winterset, and Clyde Peterson of Winterset.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the First Methodist church of Winterset, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John C. Porath. Burial was made in the North McDonald cemetery.
