Virginia Marie Frank, Winterset

Virginia Marie Frank, 71, of Winterset died of multiple organ system failure Nov. 2, 2001 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with the Rev. Robert Barrick officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from noon to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, with the family present from 6-8 p.m. Burial will be at Franklin Township Cemetery in Cooper.

Virginia Frank was born Jan. 4, 1930 to Lester LeRoy and Vera (White) Lawrence of Scranton. A 1947 graduate of Cooper High School, she also was a 1951 graduate of Simpson College in Indianola. She married Donald Dean Frank on Aug. 18, 1951, at the United Methodist Church in Cooper. She had worked as an assistant librarian at Simpson College for two years and as a bibliographer at the library at Drake University for 10 years. She also had assisted her husband in the ministry for 46 years. Virginia was a member of the Winterset First United Methodist Church, Chancel Choir, United Methodist Women (president), Patterson United Methodist Women, and while residing in Jefferson, had been a member of the Sweet Adelines Chorus.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and an infant grandson.

She is survived by her husband, Donald of Winterset; three daughters, Jeanette Zimmerli (husband Kevin) of Bellevue, Neb., Kathryn Frank of Eveleth, Minn., and Sandra Schwartz (husband Thomas) of Roseville, Minn.; a son, Larry Frank (wife Nancy) of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn Lawrence of El Paso, Texas, and Sally Porter of Odebolt; a brother-in-law, Harold Frank of Chatsworth, Ill.; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Winterset First United Methodist Church, Patterson First United Methodist Church, Middle River Hospice or a charity of your choice.

Funeral arrangements were handled by Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset.
