Mervin Hale Pease

Mervin Hale Pease was born in Harrison township, Adair county, March 6, 1885, the eldest son of Charles C. and Ida J. Pease. He passed away October 14, 1952 on his farm at the age of 67 years, seven months and eight days.

He received his elementary education in the public schools and later attended the Earlham Academy. He did not marry but established his home with his sister, Mona in 1909. He resided in Adair county continuously until 1951 when he moved to Madison county near Earlham.

He leaves to mourn his passing four sisters: Avis Kyte of Osceola, Iowa; Mona Pease of Earlham; Betty Reece of Des Moines and Ida Bloomquist of Dexter, and one brother, John L. Pease, seventeen nieces and nephews and eight grand nieces and nephews. One nephew, Mervin Hale Pease having been killed in World War II.
mother and father (Charles and Ida Pease) one brother, Charles who died in infancy, and one sister, Mary Williamson.

Services were conducted Friday, October 17, at 2:30 p.m. at the Fairview church, with Rev. Fordon Blunt in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs. John Shepard, Mrs. Harvey Beaman and Mrs. Mervin Wells. Ladies in charge of flowers were Mrs. Clifton Daulton, Mrs. G. C. Gamerdinger and Mrs. Gerald Mullins.

Casket bearers were nephews, James, Guy and Bill Reese, John and George Kyte and Kenneth Williamson. Interment was in the Fairview cemetery.
