Mrs. Alice Meyer, member of a prominent Jefferson township family, died Thursday, May 23, 1963, at a Winterset nursing home. She was 95 years of age.
Mrs. Meyer was the former Alice Roderick, daughter of John and Mallisa Roderick, and was born in Jefferson township May 29, 1867. Her life was spent in the Jefferson and Van Meter communities. She lived 65 years on the same farm befoe moving to Van Meter in 1952.
She was married to Frederick H. Meyer March 2, 1886. Her husband, and one son, Clarence Meyer, preceded her in death.
She was a life-long member of the Evangelical United Brethren church.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Mae Gowin of Van Meter; two sons, Earl Meyer of Van Meter and Alvin Meyer of Winterset; 12 grandchildren; and 30 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Saturday from the Van Meter United Brethren church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Mr. Carter. Burial was made in the Jefferson E.U.B. cemetery.
