Apil 24, 1957LLOYD WRIGHT Dies at Ames
Lloyd E. Wright, former Winterset man and a long-time resident of Madison county, died at his home in Ames Saturday, April 20, 1957. He was 71 years of age.
Mr. Wright was born in Madison county on June 5, 1885, a son of John A. and Harriet Elizabeth Barnett Wright. His early life was spent in farming. Later he engaged in the automobile business in Winterset for a number of years. He moved from Winterset to Ames in 1940, and had made his home there since that time.
He was married on Dec. 30, 1908, to Virgie Meacham. They were the parents of one son, Hugh Wright. The son was killed in action while serving with the U. S. Naval Air corps in the Pacific Theatre of action during World War II. Mrs. Wright died in 1947.
Nearest surviving relatives are a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Irene Wright of Davenport and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Eyerly of Winterset.
Funeral services were held here Tuesday from the Richards Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. W. W. Steinmetz, pastor of the Winterset Methodist church. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
