Gertie Harrell Dies at 80 Years

Mrs. Gertie M. Harrell of Winterset died Friday, June 9, at Memorial hospital in Winterset. She wa 80 years of age.

Mrs. Harrell was a resident of Madison county most of her life. She was a native of Marion county, where she was born Dec. 9, 1891, a daughter of John and Margaret Postma DeBok.

She was married here Oct. 15, 1913 to Cliff Harrell. He preceded her in death on Sept. 24, 1966.

She leaves seven children, Delbert Harrell of Winterset, Clifford Harrell of Osceola, Robert Harrell of Thayer, Mrs. Howard Duff of Nice, Calif.; Mrs. Harold Libby of Winterset, Mrs. Keith Guthrie of Norwalk, and Mrs. Delbert Trevillyan of Winterset. She also leaves 22 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; a brother, Howard DeBok of Winterset; three sisters, Mrs. Elsie Criss of Hawthorne, Nev. Mrs. Ruby Briggs of Durham, Calif.; and Mrs. Edith Young of Sacramento, Calif.; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Lela Gibson of Des Moines and Mrs. Shirley Hamilton of Osceola.

Funeral services were held Monday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. Newton Coughenour, pastor of the First United Methodist church here. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
