Mrs. Walter (Sadie Ellen) Smith, 88, died Thursday, September 23, 1976, at Madison Manor South in Winterset. She was born August l6, 1888, in Jackson township of Madison County, the daughter of John William Weaver and Floretta Arminta Eppard.
A lifetime resident of the county, Mrs. Smith was a housewife affiliated with the Early Chapel Church. Her marriage to Walter A. Smith took place April 14, 1928, in Des Moines. Mr. Smith preceded his wife in death July 1, 1962.
Surviving Mrs. Smith is one daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Marjorie) A. Brokaw of Winterset. Mrs. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters and two brothers.
Funeral services for Sadie Smith were conducted Monday, September 27, at 1:30 p.m. from Collins Funeral Home. Rev. Paul Bousfield officiating. Burial was made at the Winterset Cemetery.
