ORVAL HESS Died in California Friday

Orval Hess, formerly a well-known Winterset resident, died Friday, May 17, 1963, at his home in the San Fernando Valley of California. Death came suddenly, as result of a heart attack. He was 57 years of age.

He had moved recently from Torrence, Calif., to the San Fernando Valley, where he was managing a motel.

Mr. Hess was a native of Oklahoma but had lived most of his life in Madison county. For many years he operated the South Standard Oil service station in Winterset.

He was a son of Mr. and Mrs. William B. Hess. He was married June 11, 1927, to Jessie Bain, who survives him.

In addition to his wife, he leaves two daughters, Mrs. Billie Bain Henry of San Diego, California,and Mrs. Joyce Davis of New Orleans, La.; a son David Hess of San Diego; seven grandchildren; his father, W. B. Hess of Winterset; and two brothers, Glen Hess of Des Moines and Dale Hess of San Diego.

Funeral services were held Tuesday in San Diego, with burial in a cemetery in that city.
