Wednesday, May 3, 1961MRS. C. B. HICKENLOOPER Dies at 75 Years
Mrs.C. B. Hickenlooper, a well known Winterset resident for 48 years, died at Memorial hospital Saturday, April 29, 1961, after an extended illness. She was 75 years of age and had been a patient at the hospital since last August.
Mrs. Hickenlooper was a native of Jesup, where she was born Aug. 22, 1885. She was the former Mamie B. Searles, daughter of Arthur R. and Alice Schrack Searles. She was married Aug. 7, 1910 in Des Moines to Dr. C. B. Hickenlooper.
During her long residence here she was active in club and community affairs.She was a member of P.E.O.,was a past matron of Eastern Star, and was affiliated with Child Welfare Club. She helped organize the Women's Auxiliary to the Madison County Medical Society and had served on the Winterset school and library boards. She was a member of the Winterset Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, Dr. C. B. Hickenlooper of Winterset; two daughters, Mrs. John E. Peterson of Des Moines and Mrs. Arthur Johnston of Prairie Village, Kansas; three granddaughters, a brother, Harry Searles of Blockton; and two half brothers, Herbert Albaugh of Kansas City, Mo., and Wilsie S. Albaugh of Omaha, Nebraska.
Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Winterset Methodist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John Porath. Burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.
