WILLIAM HIATT

William Hiatt is the father of Jesse Hiatt of the Delicious Apple tree fame. (Jesse lived near Peru, Iowa) He was born August 18, 1775 in Guilford County, North Carolina and died March 1, 1855 in Grant County, Indiana. He married February 5, 1799 in Guilford County, North Carolina to Elizabeth Sulgrove, who was born in 1774 and died May 26, 1849 at age 75 in Grant County, Indiana. Both are buried in the Old Friends Cemetery, Marion County, Indiana.

They moved either in 1805 or 1806 from North Carolina to Ohio where their son Joseph was born about 1807 in Wayne County, Indiana. His brothers John and Isaac settled in 1826 or 1827 in Grant County, Indiana.

William and Elizabeth's children were: David, Aaron, Joseph, Jesse, Daniel, Hannah, Lydia, Esther, Nancy and Matilda.
