J. Herr, Grand River twp., farmer and stock-raiser, Sec. 18; P.O. Macksburg; was born in Montgomery county, Ohio in 1836, and emigrated to Cedar county, Iowa in 1857, and came to this county in January, 1869; owns 240 acres of land; he was associated with J. D. Love for two years in general merchandise; he married Miss McVay in 1860; she was born in Ohio; has four children: Frank B., Maria, Anna E. and Hattie.
