Jas. W. Evans, deceased, Lincoln twp., farmer, Sec. 5; was born in Putnam county, Indiana in 1838; came to this county in 1855; he owned 370 acres of land; he married Miss Catherine J. Vancie in 1858; she was born in Perry county, Illinois, and died in 1873; Mr. Evans died in 1874 and left three children: Sylvester E., Thomas L. and Sarah E.
