D. Bennett, Winterset, Farmer; born in Indiana in 1826; removed to Illinois in 1851
and remained there until 1852, and then came and settled in Madison township, and made the second entry of land in the township; owns 450 acres of land; is at present a member of the city council; he married Mrs. N. J. Mitchell (whose maiden name was Hornback) in 1857; she was born in Indiana; has three children: Minta, Elmer and Lela.
