J. H. Barker, Winterset, Jeweler: born in North Carolina in 1826; when three years of age removed with his parents to Iowa, where he remained until 1854, and then went to Jacksonville, Illinois and lived there one year; came to this county in 1855; has been engaged in the business twenty-eight years, and is at present the second oldest business house in the city; he has held the office of town clerk; he married Miss J. B. Young, June 29, 1859; she was born in Ohio; has three children: Ellis L., Bertie and Wilma; lost two children: Willie H. and Bessie.
