January 28, 1926 - December 5, 2016

Inwood, Iowa -- Ralph Kock, 90, of Inwood, Iowa, died Monday, December 5, 2016 at Fellowship Village in Inwood. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 9, at 1:30 PM at Bethlehem Lutheran Church of Inwood with Rev. John Wolf officiating. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery of Inwood. Visitation with family present will be Thursday, December 8, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Porter Funeral Home in Inwood.

Ralph Kock, son of Herman and Emma (Claussen) Kock, was born January 28, 1926, at the family farm near Inwood, Iowa. Ralph graduated from Inwood High School. Upon graduating, Ralph entered the United States Army and served his country during World War II. He was stationed in Germany for 18 months. Ralph was united in marriage with Jean Katt on June 11, 1950 in Alvord, Iowa. The couple made their home at the Kock family farm near Inwood where Ralph farmed the land. Ralph’s mentality of serving his country and friends stayed with him throughout his life as he looked to serve people. He served as Lyon County Supervisor, Lyon County Fair Boardmember, trustee of Richland Cemetery, and Kiwanis.

In Ralph’s younger years he enjoyed competing in plowing contests. He loved building and metal fabrication. If Ralph got an idea in his mind, he would find a way to build it. He also loved spending time on his payloader. Ralph was a member of the American Legion for 40+ years and Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Inwood.

Ralph is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jean Kock of Inwood; 4 children, Randy (Betty) Kock of Inwood, Sue (Tony) Wilhelm of Toddville, Iowa, Roxane (Jim) McCasland of Farmington, New Mexico, and Scott (Pam) Kock of Inwood; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 sister, Eileen Venis of Canton, South Dakota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Emma; brother, Ray Kock; and sister, Elvira Johnson.
