James Otto Bruns

October 16, 1983 - July 30, 2016

James O. Bruns, age 32 of Doon, Iowa, died Saturday, July 30, 2016, resulting from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 4th at Jurrens Funeral Home of Rock Rapids, with Rev. Kathy Sides officiating.

Family will receive friends and family from 9:30 to hour of service Thursday morning at Jurrens Funeral home in Rock Rapids.

James Otto Bruns was born October 16, 1983, at Rock Rapids, Iowa, the son of Randy D and Paula Jeane (Coulson) Bruns. He was raised near Doon, Iowa and attended Central Lyon School and graduated from Rock Valley High School in 2003. After high school he worked various jobs in the area, most recently he worked at Integrity Concrete in Orange City, IA.

James enjoyed working with his hands, visiting with friends and family, and attending music concerts with his brother. He especially loved spending time with children. He will be remembered as a gentle soul, who had the gift to put a smile on everyone’s face.

James is survived by his parents, Randy Bruns of Ashton, IA and Jeane Bruns of Doon, IA; brother, Tyler John Bruns and his children, Xander, Gabriel, Greyor and Rogan, all of Doon, IA; sister, Rebecca (husband, Donald) Mayo and their children, Rylie, Beau, C.J. and Wyatt, all of Doon, IA; four aunts, Barbie Coulson of Doon, IA, Patti (husband, Eugene) Boon of Alton, IA, Nancy (husband, Terry) Daily of Urbana, MO and Carol Perry of Sioux Falls, SD; two uncles, Gordon (wife, Bonny) Bruns of Little Rock, IA and Mike (wife, Tami) Coulson of Everson, WA; and many cousins and other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Otto and Evelyn Bruns; maternal grandparents, John and Beverly Coulson; four uncles, Richard, Marvin, Lawrence and Robert; and one aunt, Diane Redinius.
