Orval Edward Lenderts was born on March 15, 1922, rural George, Iowa, the son of John and Christina (Wieman) Lenderts. He grew up in the George area graduating in 1939 from George High School, and as a young man worked for neighboring farmers.

On February 16, 1943, he was united in marriage to Eunice Behrends at the Lyon County First Presbyterian Church parsonage, rural George, Iowa. They began their married life together on a farm near Matlock, Iowa. After one year, they moved to the family farm southeast of George, where they were blessed with and raised their two children, Gerald and Elvina. In 1983, they retired from farming and moved to a nearby acreage. Due to health decline, together they moved to Sibley Specialty Care in 2010, celebrating 71 years of marriage.

Orval was a lifetime farmer, dedicated to the farming lifestyle. While semi-retired he worked at Chase Bag Company in Sibley and later was a bus driver for the George Community School.

He was a faithful member of the Lyon County First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder, Deacon, Trustee and Church Treasurer throughout the years. Orval loved farming, but also greatly enjoyed gardening, tinkering and fixing things. Orval dearly loved his family very much and treasured the times spent with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed.

Orval is survived by his daughter, Elvina (Lynn) Van Meeteren of George, IA; daughter-in-law, Harriet Lenderts of Sibley, IA; six grandchildren: Steven Lenderts and special friend Tanya of Sibley, IA, Brian (Angie) Lenderts of Johnston, IA, Heath (Amanda) Van Meeteren of George, IA, Aaron (Joni) Lenderts of Baltic, SD, Melissa (Randy) Vaupel of Sibley, IA, and Jerry (Lori) Lenderts of Papillion, NE; 12 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Lonnelle Lenderts of Random Lake, WI; nieces, nephews and other extended family.
