Inwood, Iowa - Glenn Serck, 74, of Inwood, Iowa died Thursday, May 26, 2016 at Sanford Hospice Centennial Cottage in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at 11:00 AM at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church of rural Inwood, Iowa. Burial will follow at Richland Cemetery of Inwood. Visitation with the family present will be Tuesday, May 31, 2016 at Porter Funeral Home of Inwood from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Glenn Dale Serck, son of Emil Matthew and Elvera (Pedersen) Serck, was born December 3, 1941 near Inwood, Iowa. Glenn attended and graduated from Inwood High School. He later served as a member of the South Dakota National Guard.

On February 15, 1969 Glenn was united in marriage with Hennie Berentschot at Inwood. The couple made their home in Inwood where they raised their three children; Matthew, Melanie and Michael. Glenn owned and operated Inwood Hatchery & Feed Store. Glenn was proud to be from the Inwood community and took great interest in being an involved citizen. He served as a city council member, boy scout leader, and was a member of various different boards over the years.

Glenn was one of the founders of the Inwood Historical Society and was known around town as being a city historian. He produced a monthly calendar every year that looked back at Inwood history. He always looked forward to the Fourth of July celebration in Inwood every year. Glenn also wrote a weekly column for the West Lyon Herald called “Glenn’s Graffiti”.

He was an avid music fan; he enjoyed going to concerts and listening to the radio whenever possible. Glenn enjoyed spending time at his lake home in Okoboji, pursuing his various hobbies or volunteering at the VA, but he really cherished the time spent with his family. His family will miss his quick wit and one liner jokes.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 47 years, Hennie; three children, Matthew (Heather) Serck of Inwood; Melanie Zuraff of Larchwood, Iowa; and Michael (Margaret Ann) Serck of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; eight grandchildren, Payton, Reece, Talula, Dylan, Mary Jane, Marie Lynn, Lucille, and Alice Ann; sister, Dolores (Fred) Elbert of Hills, Minnesota; and several more beloved family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Elvera Serck.
