Rock Valley, Iowa -- Marvin Klomp, 83, of Rock Valley, died Saturday, May 28, 2016 at Hudson Care Center, Hudson, South Dakota. Memorial service will be 3:00 pm Wednesday, June 1, at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Rev. Gideon Wamala will be officiating. Burial will be prior to the memorial service at Valley View Cemetery, Rock Valley. Visitation with the family present will be from 6-8 pm Tuesday, May 31, at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, Rock Valley. Memorials may be given to Sioux Center Home Health & Hospice or Rock Valley Christian School. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Thomas Marvin Klomp was born August 3, 1932 at Doon, Iowa, son of Meeuwes “Mace” and Nellie (Vanden Bosch) Klomp. He graduated from Western Christian High School. Marvin married Helen Snieder on February 19, 1954 at Sioux Center, Iowa. Together they lived at Rock Valley where Marvin was a machinist and later part owner of Kooima Machine Company.

He was one of the founding Rock Valley Golf Course board members, an original EMT for Rock Valley Ambulance, and past Elder and Deacon of Calvin Christian Reformed Church.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Helen of Rock Valley; children, Loren (Carol) Klomp of Hanford, California; Crystal (LeRoy) DeJager of Orange City, Iowa; Violet (Mark) Kuiken of Orange City; Avonne (Howard) Van Ginkel of Rock Valley; Sheila (Carl) Vink of Doon, Iowa; and Paulette (Todd) DeWeerd of Rock Rapids, Iowa; 19 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; sister, Nella Driesen of Hull, Iowa; and sister-in-law, Geri Klomp of Rock Valley.

Marvin was preceded in death by his parents, Mace and Nellie Klomp; brother, Edward Klomp; sister and brother-in-law, Mathilda and Gerald Baartman; brother-in-law, Gene Driesen; and an infant brother.
