Biography--

Adrian, Minnesota - Alma Drenth, age 96, of Adrian, Minnesota, died Monday, February 15, 2016, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth, Minnesota.

Committal will be 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20th at the Bethel Reformed Church Cemetery, rural Little Rock, Iowa, followed by the 11:00 a.m. memorial service, with Rev. Matt Miller officiating.

Visitation will be Friday, February 19th from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the church.

Alma Drenth, daughter of Jake and Bena (Huisman) De Boer was born November 12, 1919 at her parents’ home in Lyon County, Iowa. She attended grade school at Midland Township of Lyon County and two years at Ellsworth High School. She helped out on the family farm and also was a ‘hired girl’ to farmers’ wives and others who were in need of help.

Alma married Donald Drenth on December 18, 1946, at the Bethel Reformed Church parsonage. Their first farm home was south of Ellsworth where they farmed for two years and then moved to their farm home SW of Adrian. She was a lifelong member of Bethel Reformed Church of Rural Little Rock. She was an active member of the Dorcas Society, and RCWM for many years. She taught Sunday school, Catechism and Donald and She were R.C.Y.F. leaders for a number of years. Alma will be remembered for her faith in the Lord, and how she served Him.

Alma enjoyed gardening, cooking and certainly will be remembered for her baking of pies, cookies and making delicious candies. Alma became a resident of Parkview Manor of Ellsworth on October 5, 2009. She passed away there on Monday, February 15th, 2016 at the age of 96. Alma will be missed

She leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 69 years, Donald Drenth; daughters, Pam (Kevin) Nelson of Wilmar, Minnesota, and Sherri Halvorson of Morgan, Minnesota; seven grandchildren: Miranda Nelson, Monica Nelson and Tanya (Jesus) Bazaldua, all of Wilmar, Minnesota, Nicole (Cory) Welter of St. Cloud, Minnesota, Justin Halvorson of Morgan, Minnesota, Jordan Halvorson of Morten, Minnesota, and Joshua Halvorson of Hastings, Minnesota; and nine great-grandchildren; siblings: Kenneth (Eleanor) De Boer of Little Rock, Iowa, Vera De Boer of Luverne, Minnesota, Pearl (Ed) Korthals of George, Iowa, Betty (Virgil) Block of Adrian, Minnesota, and Joyce (Everon) Kanengieter of Little Rock, Iowa; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

Alma was preceded in death by her parents, Jake and Bena De Boer; infant brother; and brother, Elmer De Boer.
