George, Iowa - Jennie Grave, age 86, of George, died Saturday, April 4, 2015 at her home in George.

Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 8th at Hope Reformed Church in George, with Reverend David Poppen officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Lawn Cemetery in George, Iowa.

Visitation will be Tuesday, April 7th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at Jurrens Funeral Home in George.

Jennie Grave was born on June 23, 1928 on a farm west of George, Iowa, to Dick and Johanna (Donker) Gronewold. She grew up on a farm near George and attended Country School. On February 16, 1949, she was united in marriage to Gerald Grave in George, Iowa. The couple lived in George for a while then moved to Curry, Minnesota, for a time and then moved back to George. To this union four children were born: Audrey, Pat, Valerie and Gerald. Jennie worked for Visser Hardware for thirty-seven years.

She was a member of the Hope Reformed Church. She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, playing cards, and going up town to visit with friends. Jennie loved to ride around town in the car and she especially liked the times when she would ride on her son, Gerald’s motorcycle or her daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Andy’s convertible. She also loved her cats very much. Jennie will be greatly missed.

Jennie is survived by her four children: Audrey Grave, Pat (Ande) Bruinsma, Valerie (Robert) Gruis and Gerald (Pam) Grave, all of George, Iowa; eight grandchildren: Chantell, Terry and Andrea Bruinsma; Jason and Jermey Gruis; Nathan, Matthew, and David Grave; eleven great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law Mabel (Gronewold) Drenth; numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dick and Johanna Gronewold; Husband Gerald Grave; four brothers, Heye (wife Inez), John (wife Hannah), Richard (Barney) (wife Mary Ellen) and Dick Gronewold; one sister Engeline (husband Delmar) Groen.
