Georgia (Kruse) Thies – October 24, 1940 – May 28, 2007

Georgia Thies, age 66, of Melvin, Iowa, passed away on Monday, May 28, 2007, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.

Funeral services will be Friday, June 1, 2007, at 11:00 A.M. at the First Baptist Church in Sibley. Rev. Tom Voight officiating.

Burial at 2:00 P.M. Friday, at Baker Township Cemetery in Melvin.

Visitation will be Thursday, May 31, 2007, from 2-8 P.M. with the family present from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Andringa Funeral Home in Sibley.

Georgia Thies was born on October 24, 1940, in rural Rock Rapids, Lyon County, Iowa. She was the daughter of George and Grace (Mulder) Kruse She lived her youth in the rural Rock Rapids and George, Iowa, area. She attended a country school in George, Iowa, and graduated from George High School.

She was united in marriage to Daryl A. Thies of Melvin, Iowa, on March 11, 1960, at the First Baptist Church in Sibley, Iowa. They lived and farmed in rural Melvin, Iowa.

Georgia was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sibley, Iowa, where she enjoyed being a Sunday school teacher, Sunday school treasurer, and church camp coordinator.

Georgia's passion was her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed baking and loved to serve others. She will be remembered as a loving and caring person, who brought a ray of sunshine to others lives.

She passed away on Monday, May 28, 2007, at the Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley, Iowa.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband: Daryl Thies of Melvin, IA; one daughter and son-in-law: Darla and John Bauer of Sioux City, IA; one son and daughter-in-law: Don and Peggi Thies of Melvin, IA; eight grandchildren: Nicholas Bauer, Andrew Bauer, Nathan Bauer, Samuel Bauer, Paige Thies, Emma Thies, Amelia Thies, Dillon Thies; her mother: Grace Kruse of Sibley, IA; three sisters: Donna Wachter and special friend Marv Wulf of Sioux Falls, SD, Carol and husband Bob Henning of Sheldon, IA, Lorae and husband Brian Current of Forest City, IA; sister-in-law: Pat and husband Sid Mellema of Sun City, AZ; brother-in-law: Ray Hankins of Milford, IA and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant son and her father: George Kruse
