July 4, 1962 - February 23, 2015

Doon, Iowa - Ed Sneller, age 52, of Doon, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015, while driving truck near Doon.

Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday February 27, 2015 at First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa, with Pastor Steve Swenson officiating. Burial will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Doon.

Visitation will be Thursday, February 26, 2015 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. with family present from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at First Reformed Church of Rock Rapids.

In lieu of flowers family wish memorials, to be designated at a later time.

Edwin Lee Sneller was born July 4, 1962 in Sioux Center, Iowa, to Louis and Shirley (Aardema) Sneller. He received his education and graduated from Western Christian School in Hull, Iowa, in 1980.

On February 21, 1987 Ed was united in marriage to Valerie Baker at the First Reformed Church in Rock Rapids, Iowa. The couple made their home in Doon. To this union three children were born. Ed was a truck driver for many years. He was also a member of the Doon Fire Department for 30+ years. Ed will be remembered as a man who lived life to the fullest and cared deeply for his friends and family. He enjoyed having fun with those around him and was always quick with a smile and something witty to say.

Over the years he enjoyed playing softball and bowling with his friends or cooking something delicious on his smoker. He was a great cook. Ed loved to ride his motorcycle and many good memories were made on bike trips. But mostly he’ll be remembered as a wonderful Dad and husband. His wife and children meant the world to him and he also enjoyed his role as a grandpa.

He is survived by his wife, Valerie Sneller; son, Brandon Sneller and his daughter Tori; son, Joel (Amber) Sneller, who are expecting a child; and daughter, Danielle Sneller, all of Doon; mother, Shirley Sneller of Doon; mother-in-law, Jane Baker of Rock Rapids, Iowa; brothers-in-law, Brian (Sherry) Baker and Brad (Steph) Baker of all Rock Rapids, Iowa; uncle, Don Aardema of Doon; and other extended family members.

Ed was preceded in death by his Dad, Louis Sneller; brother, Robert Sneller; and Dad-in-law, Willis Baker.
