Ricky Buss, 42, of Doon died Friday, May 28, 2004, at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital, Rock Rapids, following a sudden collapse.

Services were June 1 at Roste Funeral Home, Rock Rapids, with interment in Hillside Cemetery, Doon.

Mr. Buss was born March 22, 1962, in Sheldon, the son of John and Glenda (Hansmann) Buss. The family lived in Rochester, N.Y., and Greeley, Colo., before moving to Doon in 1972. He attended Central Lyon schools, graduating in 1980. He worked with his father for Buss Construction.

On Aug. 24, 1985, he married Vanessa Rau in Rock Rapids. They lived in Doon. He worked in Sioux Falls, S.D., at John Morrell Packing, Advance Schaeffer and SiouxPreme Packing Plant before going to work as a supervisor at Novartis Animal Health near Larchwood in 1999.

He was a member of Rock River Golf & Country Club. As a member of Gold Wing Road Riders Association-Chapter S, he served as a ride educator and assistant chapter director and in 2003, the couple was named the club's Iowa District Couple of the Year.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Justin of Rock Valley and Nicholas of Doon; his parents of Doon; two brothers, Ed and Mike, both of Doon, and one sister, Mrs. Jeff (Sheila) Meyer of Sioux Center.
