FRIEDA KLINKENBORG

Frieda Klinkenborg, 75, of Rock Rapids died Saturday, September 26, 1998, at Lyon Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Services were Monday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in Riverview Cemetery.

Frieda Gruis was born April 12, 1923, in Rock Rapids, the daughter of Daniel and Frieda (Runge) Gruis. She graduated from Wilson High School in Rock Rapids in 1941 and took some business classes at Sheldon. She was employed at Northwestern Bell as an operator and was promoted to assistant chief operator and eventually chief operator after the phone company’s conversion to dial.

On May 25, 1945, she married Kenneth Klinkenborg, in Sioux Falls, S. D. She worked part-time for a CPA in Rock Rapids and alter worked for Hawkeye Bank of Rock Rapids (now Mercantile Bank).

Her husband died February 8, 1992. In March 1997, she became a resident of Lyn Manor.

Survivors include one sister, Verna Kruger of Rock Rapids.
