Howard “Bill” Crane, 71, of Rock Rapids died

Tuesday September 22 1998 at McKennan Hospital, Sioux Falls, S. D.
Funeral Mass was Saturday at Holy Name Catholic Church, Rock Rapids, with interment in the church cemetery.

Mr. Crane was born August 1, 1927 at Denison, the son of Howard and Josephine (Pelley) Crane. He grew up and attended school at Denison. He served in the Marine corps from November 1945 to March 1947.

On December 7, 1947, he married Lois Hargens at Denison. He managed grocery stores in Iowa, South Dakota and Minnesota most of his life. He managed Bob’s Super Valu in Rock Rapids seven years. Also while in Rock Rapids, he ran the Grill Café a few years. Before retiring in 1989, he worked for his son in a bakery in Dell Rapids, S. D. the couple moved to Sioux Falls and lived there eight years before moving back to Rock Rapids.

Survivors include his wife, two sons Steven of Rock Rapids and Doug of Pierre, S. D.; one daughter, Jacki Crane of Hartley; six grandchildren; one step-grandchild and one sister, Mrs. Ed (Mary) Ludwig of Ida Grove.
