Susan “Sue” was born August 17, 1963 at Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the daughter of James and Sadie (Folkerts) Faber. After graduating from Western Christian High School, she obtained an Associate in Business degree at NCC at Sheldon, Iowa. Sue married Doug Bliek on July 2, 1981 at Inspiration Hills near Inwood.

Sue’s love and passion for helping others was evident in the many different careers she held throughout her life. This was demonstrated not only by serving others working within the food industry but also by helping people find a home as a real estate agent. More recently, she was proud to become registered as a securities and financial advisor. She was looking forward to beginning a new chapter which also involved being in the service of others.

Sue was a social butterfly, enjoying camping, boating, golfing, riding motorcycle, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She loved God and served as children’s choir director, Sunday School and Catechism teacher, and was a member of the church choir. Sue will be remembered as someone who was always smiling and wore her heart on her sleeve. She often played the role of peacemaker and tried to find the positive in any situation. Those who knew Sue will remember her laughter, her smile, and her big heart. She had an overwhelming love for family and loved being a grandmother. She served many and was loved by all.

Surviving relatives include her husband, Doug; her children, Heather (Ryan) Marra of Hull, Iowa, Amanda Bliek of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Jason Bliek of Rock Valley, and Kendra Bliek of Rock Valley; grandchildren, Aubrey and Addison Marra; her parents, James and Sadie Faber of Inwood; brother, Dennis Faber of Texas; sister, Karen (Rev. Roger) Bouwman of Inwood; and Doug’s parents, Herb and Mina Bliek of Rock Valley.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Michael Faber; and grandparents, Pierre and Trina Folkerts, and William and Rolena Faber.
