Della M (Swenson) Stoefen – July 8, 1909 – January 17, 1990

Della M. Stoefen, 80, of Dell Rapids died Wednesday, January 17, 1990 at the Dell Rapids Community Hospital after a long illness.

Della Swenson was born July 8 1909, at Inwood, Iowa, the daughter of Swen and Hanna Swenson. She grew up in Inwood and graduated from Inwood High School in 1928 and later worked with Dr. Stewart at Inwood.

She was married to Vernon Stoefen on March 26, 1934, in Madison and they lived their entire married life in Dell Rapids.

Della was active in the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids, the Hospital Auxiliary, Garden Club, and Women of ELCA.

Della was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and four sisters; ron of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Mrs. Terry (Veronica) Buskerud of Dell Rapids and Mrs. Keith (Sandra) Francik of Cody, Wyoming, one sister, Mrs. Margaret Rinden of San Diego, California; six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Funeral services were held at the Lutheran Church of Dell Rapids on Saturday, January 20, 1990, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Earl Johnson officiating. The organist was Linda Johnson and soloist was Ron Peterson. Casketbearers were Don Knutson, Sam Knutson, Merle Knutson, Ed Sessler, bob Ellingson, and Kenneth Olson.

Interment was held at Richland Cemetery, Inwood, Iowa. Kahler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
