Veronice E (Scholten) Tuschen – October 2, 1942 – November 7, 2012

Veronica E. Tuschen, 70, of Salem passed away suddenly at her home on Wednesday, November 7, 2012. Funeral mass will begin at 10:30 am on Saturday, November 10 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Salem. Visitation will begin on Friday at 9 am with a 3 pm rosary and 7 pm prayer service all at Kinzley Funeral Home in Salem.

Veronica Scholten was born on October 2, 1942 to John and Alieda (Lens) Scholten in Larchwood, IA. She grew up in Larchwood and graduated from high school there. She then went to nursing school in Mitchell, SD and earned her LPN degree.

On October 2, 1962 she married Richard Tuschen. This union was blessed with five children. Veronica was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church where she was in the altar society. She loved spending time with her family, especially her children and grandchildren.

Veronica is survived by her husband, Richard of Salem; three sons, Tim (Sara) of Omaha, NE, Steve (Kimm) of Sioux Falls, and Alan (Lindsay) of Summerset; one daughter, Janelle (Joseph) VanWesten of Brewster, MN; ten grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; three brothers, John Jr. (Dorothy) Scholten of Dell Rapids, George (Donna) Scholten of Luverne, MN, and Clete (Shirley) Scholten of Sioux Falls; three sisters, Ann (Ray) Burkard of Larchwood, IA, Mary Lou Kearney of Sioux City, and Rose Marie (Dale) Carman of Sioux Falls; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Linda Spaans, and ten siblings.
