Little Rock & Ashton, Iowa - Theresa Dammann, age 83, of Little Rock, died Monday, February 17, 2014 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Thursday, February 20, 2014 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton, Iowa, with Father Timothy Hogan as celebrant. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Ashton.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 19th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ashton. There will be a Rosary at 4:00 PM and a Vigil service at 7:30 PM at the church Wednesday evening.

Theresa M. (Molitor) Dammann was born to Charles and Anna Clemens Molitor on April 5, 1930 at Sibley, Iowa. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School at Ashton for 12 years, graduating in May 1948. After losing her own mother at age 17, she remained at the family home as a housekeeper for her father and brothers until her marriage.

On October 30, 1954, Theresa married Marvin W. Dammann at St. Mary’s Catholic Church at Ashton, Iowa. After their marriage they spent a year in Washington, DC where Marvin finished his army service. During this year, Theresa worked for the Corps of Engineers at the Pentagon as a clerk typist. In November 1955 they returned to Iowa where they farmed near Sibley for several years. They moved to Little Rock in 1959. Theresa worked as editor of the Little Rock Leader from 1960 thru 1970.

She was active in the Little Rock Music Boosters and PTA while her children were in school. She was a member of the Little Rock EMS from 1983 to 1990. She was a member of the Osceola Community Hospice volunteers for fifteen years. She worked as a waitress at the Cedar Cabin for 31 years.

She was a member of the Resident Advocate Committee at Country View Manor. She was also a member of the Lyon County Health Council at Rock Rapids for several years, and a member of the Ashton Legion Auxiliary since 1993. Theresa was a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Church.

She taught Catechism (CCD) for many years was a member of St. Mary’s Guild, served on the liturgy committee and was Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Catholic Daughters serving as Grand Regent for four years. Theresa continued to give the gift of life by being an Organ Donor.

She leaves the following to honor her memory: Karen Dammann & Family of Anchorage, Alaska; Michael (Teresa) Dammann of Marcus, Iowa; Brenda Dammann of Arden, North Carolina; Nancy (Doug) Ortmann & Family of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; James Dammann of Sioux Falls; and seven grandchildren: Matthew (Becca), Anna, Nathan (Amanda), Blaine Dammann, Emily, Grace and Isaac Ortmann; a brother, Dale (Jane) Molitor of Worthington, Minnesota; four sisters-in-law and many nephews and nieces.

Preceding her in death were her parents Charles & Anna (Clemens) Molitor; two sisters: Anna Marie Penning and Christine Winterfeld; six brothers: Charles Jr., Clarence J., Milo N., Donald C., John B. and Ernest A.
