Ben Dieken

ROCK RAPIDS, IOWA - A funeral for Ben Dieken, age 101, of Rock Rapids, was held on January 12 at the Salem Reformed church in Little Rock with the Rev. Brian Hellenga officiating. Interment was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Little Rock.

Mr. Dieken died on January 10, 1984, at the Rock Rapids hospital.

Ben Dieken was born March 12, 1882, at Pilsum. Germany, the son of Johann and Margarte Hinrichs Dieken. He came to the United States in 1890, moving to Hartford, South Dakota, where he married Ida Vogt on March 20, 1911. They lived there two years, then moved to the Ellsworth and Little Rock areas, where they farmed.

They moved in to Little Rock in 1944 following their retirement. He resided in a Rock Rapids nursing home for the 18 years preceding his death.

He is survived by his wife, Ida; two sons, John Dieken, of Little Rock and Eldon Dieken, of George; one daughter, Mrs. Cornelius (Martha) Christians, of Ellsworth; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
