Troy Gene Meinerts

(May 14, 1960 - February 3, 2014)

George, Iowa - Troy Meinerts, age 53 of George, died Monday, February 3, 2014 at Sibley Nursing & Rehabilition Center in Sibley, Iowa.

Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 6, 2014 at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George, Iowa, with Rev. Duane Arneson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George, Iowa. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the Jurrens Funeral Home of George on Thursday.

Troy Gene Meinerts was born on May 14, 1960 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, the son of Vernon and Barbra (Swanhorst) Meinerts. Troy grew up on a farm north of George. He went to Central Baptist Church where he received the Lord and was Baptized later. He graduated from George High School. After graduating he worked for a few of the area farmers. He moved to a farm in 1981 where he started a dairy and milked cows until his accident in 1988. Before his accident Troy’s hobbies included going to thrashing shows, auctions and fishing. He loved the farm and was very close to his family.

Troy is survived by his mother, Barbra Meinerts of George; three brothers, Gary (Laurie) Meinerts of George; Dan (Jayne) Meinerts of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Phil Meinerts of Rock Rapids, Iowa; four nephews, Cory (Valerie) Meinerts, Todd (Danielle fiance) Meinerts, Andrew (Megan) Johnson and Anthony Meinerts (Jessica Gonzalez) three great nephews and two great nieces; and many other extended family.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vernon; brother, Paul; and grandparents, Pete and Rena Meinerts and Chris and Leona Kolasch.
