Wendell “Bud” Paulsen – August 11, 1923 – September 21, 2005

Wendell "Bud" Paulsen was born on August 11, 1923 in Lyon County, Alvord, IA to parents Ernest and Linda (Stoltenberg) Paulsen. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith.

When Bud was two years old, he moved with his family to Clinton, MN where he attended country school. In 1940, Bud started farming on his own. From 1941-1945 he worked for Hugo Schlimme hauling shock loaders and corn pickers from Canada. He also did custom corn shelling for a number of years.

On February 14, 1945, Bud was united in marriage to Gladys Arndt. Bud farmed west of Clinton, and continued farming through his move into Ortonville on May 5, 1984, until he retired in 1986. Bud was a member of the Holden Lutheran Church, where he served on the church board. He also was on the Barry Elevator board. He enjoyed playing ball, bowling, golfing, fishing, pool, horseshoe, playing cards, and having coffee with his friends. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Bud passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2005, at the cabin on Big Stone Lake. He is preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Francis; one granddaughter, Brittany Paulsen; a niece, Sandra (Deal) Koch; and his brother-in-law Donald Deal.

He is survived by his wife Gladys Paulsen of Ortonville, MN; three daughters, Trish (Leroy) Hamann of Ortonville, MN; Paulette (Dennis) Bakeberg of Minneapolis, MN; and Jeanette (Randy) Polhamus of Kurkland, WA; two sons, Roger (Diana) Paulsen of Clinton, MN; and Ricky (Sandy) Paulsen of Graceville, MN; seventeen grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren; one sister, Wanda Djonne of Odessa, MN; a sister-in-law, Betty Paulsen; as well as many other family and friends. - See more at:
