Margery (Brouwer) Kanengieter – May 18, 1934 – December 9, 2006

Margery Kanengieter, Sioux Falls, SD, died December 9, 2006, in Sioux Falls. She was 72.
Margery was born May 18, 1934, in Doon, IA, to William and Myrtle (De Valois) Brouwer. She attended Little Rock High School, graduating in 1952. During high school, Margery enjoyed spending time with her future husband, Delbert, and playing 6 man basketball. She went on to lead her high school team to the state playoffs.

She married Delbert Kanengieter on November 28, 1952, in George, IA, and moved onto a farm in Little Rock, IA. For a number of years, she helped Delbert with a number of duties on the farm including milking cows. The family moved to Sioux Falls in 1980, where Margery worked at Sioux Valley Hospital as a health unit coordinator.

In her free time, she enjoyed flower gardening, playing piano and listening to music. Throughout the years, Margery has enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren play basketball. As an active fan, she liked attending their games. Margery was also deeply committed to her faith. She was active in her church where she taught Sunday School and served as Director of Vacation Bible School. As a wife, mother and grandmother, she was all a family could hope for. Her loyalty and love for family was also evident in her deep respect for her parents as she often referred to their wisdom in raising her own children.

Margery’s faithfulness, love and compassion will be forever cherished.

Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Delbert Kanengieter, Sioux Falls, SD; sons, Daniel Kanengieter, Sioux Falls, SD, Ronald Kanengieter and his wife, Becky, Renner, SD; daughters, Cathy Klaassen and her husband, Marty, George, IA, Christine Clayton and her husband, Lynn, Sioux Falls, SD; grandchildren, Josh, Jeremy and Lindsey Klaassen, Michelle Eckert, Conrad, Tanya and Gwen Kanengieter, Stacie Peters, Megan Nicolai; sister, Mary Oakes and her husband, Loy, Denver, CO.

Funeral Services will begin at 10:00 am Thursday, at Trinity Baptist Church, 2400 W. 18th Street, Sioux Falls, SD. Visitation will begin noon, Wednesday, with the family present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 Wednesday evening at Miller West, 6200 W. 41st Street, Sioux Falls, SD.
