KIRK HAGE, 63

Harker Heights, Texas
March 8, 2013

Kirk Hage, 63, of Harker Heights, Texas, died Friday, March 8, 2013, following a battle after suffering two strokes.

Kirk was born to Lloyd and Leota Hage on June 7, 1952, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He attended elementary and high school at West Lyon Community School, Inwood, Iowa. He loved sports and music, participating in both. He was a member of the first undefeated football team at West Lyon and was very proud of that. After graduating, he attended the University of South Dakota for one year before working on the farm for awhile.

He moved to Alaska where he worked on the oil pipeline being built at that time. He then devoted the rest of his working days driving truck at different locations all around Arkansas. Kirk then moved to Texas where, in 2007, he was diagnosed with throat and tongue cancer. Thanks to very heavy chemo and radiation therapy, he was declared free of this tumor.

In 2001, Kirk was united in marriage to Ellen Cochran, and from this union a son was born with whom he loved doing the Dad stuff you do as a dad.

Survivors include his wife; son, Kellen; brothers and sisters, Jan (Hans) Mercer of Thousand Palms, Calif., Julie (Laird) Trusler of Newton, Iowa, Kim (Judy) Hage of Sioux Falls, and Karl (Patty) Hage of Juneau, Alaska; one step-grandson, and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Private services are pending in Texas.
