Larchwood, Iowa - Orvylle N. Williams, age 92 of Larchwood, died Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Saturday, March 9th at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood, Iowa, with Father Jeff Schleisman as celebrant. Burial will be Wednesday, March 13th at St. Genevieve Catholic Cemetery in Lake Benton, Minnesota.

Visitation will be Friday, March 8th from 2:00 to 8:00 PM, with family present from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at The Church of St. Mary in Larchwood. There will be a 7 PM Vigil service at the church Friday evening.

Orvylle Norvin Williams was born October 2, 1920 in Ruthton, Minnesota to Gilbert and Agnes (Hanson) Williams. He grew up in Lake Benton, Minnesota and graduated from high school in 1940. He was united in marriage to Lenora Nelson on October 6, 1940 at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lake Benton. Following their marriage they lived in Lake Benton, Albuquerque, New Mexico, Brookings, South Dakota, and in 1943 they settled in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

He served in the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 when he was honorably discharged. In 1964 Orvylle and his wife moved to their present home southwest of Larchwood. Orvylle at one time owned and operated the grocery store in Lake Benton, Minnesota. He worked at Metz Bakery in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, as a route salesman for over 30 years. Orvylle was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Larchwood and the Larchwood American Legion.

He enjoyed fishing, running his tree farm and watching sports, especially the Minnesota Vikings and Twins. He loved homemade pizza, cookies and ice cream every night. Orvylle also enjoyed his dog Tasha. As a hobbie, he enjoyed working at fruit stands and fireworks stands in Sioux Falls. This past Wednesday, Orvylle passed away at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls at the age of 92. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by eight children, Dennis (wife Joyce) Williams of Pierre, SD, Sandy (husband Dave) Quittem of Tea, SD, Jeff (wife Vickie) Williams of Rock Rapids, IA, Cindy (husband Greg) DeWandel of Larchwood, IA, Steve Williams of Sioux Falls, SD, Tammy (husband Kim) Thormodsgard of Sioux Falls, SD, Rick (wife Michelle) Williams of Sioux Falls, SD, and Julie Harris of Orange City, IA; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; one brother, Gailord Williams of Payson, AZ; one sister Blanche Kennedy of Benedict, MN; one sister-in-law, Lucille Williams; and many other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gilbert and Agnes Williams; his wife, Lenora Williams; daughter, Kathy Olseth; two brothers, William “Bill” Williams and Vernon Williams.
