Alice I. (Viereck) Love – October 22, 1910 – June 5, 2000

Services were June 18, 2000 for Alice I. Love, 89, of Ida Grove at Church of God in Ida Grove. Dr. Herbert Johnson officiated with burial in Ida Grove Cemetery under the direction of Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove.

Mrs. Love died June 5 at Morningside Rehab and Care Center in Ida Grove.

Mrs. Love was born Oct. 22, 1910, in Larchwood, the daughter of Alfred and Wilhelmina "Minnie" (Fuester) Viereck. She grew up in the Larchwood area, then moved to Ida Grove, where she lived with the Will Sacquety and Phil Sacquety families. After graduating from Ida Grove High School in 1929, she taught in rural schools in the Ida Grove and Arthur area.

She married J. Roland Love Aug. 22, 1931, in South Dakota. For many years she worked as a cashier at the Fair Store and later at the Ben Franklin store in Ida Grove.

She was a faithful member of the Church God for more than 70 years. She was also a member of the Loyal Homemakers Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Kay Robinson of Ida Grove and Mary Love of Brevard, N.C.; a grandson and his wife, Michael and Lynnel Love of Bangor, Maine; two great-grandchildren, Audra Carl-son and Laura Michael Love; three brothers, Donald Viereck and Frank and his wife, Georgia Viereck, all of Hartford, S.D., and John Viereck of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a sister and her husband, Evelyn and Ed Heyer of George; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
