Herman Harms, 92, of George died Thursday, Nov. 13, 2003, at Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital, Rock Rapids.

Services were Monday at Hope Reformed Church, George, with interment in Evergreen Lawn Cemetery.

Mr. Harms was born Jan. 3, 1911, near George, the son of Reiner and Gertie (Meester) Harms. He attended country schools near George and Sibley and two years at George High School. After his education, he worked as a farm hand.

On Sept. 7, 1933, he married Martha Klingenberg at George. In 1941, the family moved to Sheldon and later to Moneta. In March 1949, they moved to a farm southwest of George and in 1969 they moved into George. He worked at Sudenga Industries until retiring in 1981.

His wife died in March 1996. He became a resident of George Good Samaritan Center Oct. 6, 2003.

Survivors include one son, Eugene of Sherwood, Ark.; six daughters, Mrs. Edwin (Marlys) Duin and Lois Jurrens, both of George, Mrs. Kenneth (Elaine) Riggleman of Crossville, Tenn., Clarice Jurrens of LuCrene, Calif., Mrs. Mike (Gertrude) Gonzales of Anderson, Texas., and Mrs. Seth (Mary) Hock of Columbus, Ohio; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren and one sister, Marie Kramer of George.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one brother, Willard, and one sister, Rosella Kramer.
