(January 7, 1927 - December 31, 2012)

George, Iowa -- Margaret Snuttjer, age 85 of George, died Monday, December 31, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in George.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 4, 2013 at Tabernacle Baptist Church in George with Pastors Bryan Anderson and Oryn Meinerts, officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Lawn Cemetery at George.

Visitation will be one hour prior to services on Friday at Tabernacle Baptist Church of George.

Margaret is survived by her four children: Larry (Shirley) Snuttjer of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Jean (Larry) DeClercq of Sioux Falls, South Dakota; Randy (Denise) Snuttjer of Bennett, Colorado and Lori (Tim) Eiesland of Minneapolis, Minnesota; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to: Alzheimer's Association.

Margaret Marie Hass was born January 7, 1927 in Lyon County, Iowa, the daughter of Fred C. Hass and Wendolena "Lena" (Stomberg) Hass.

She married John Harold Snuttjer, the son of Harm Snuttjer and Etta (Van Westen) Snuttjer.

George, Iowa - Margaret Snuttjer age 85, of George, died onday, December 31, 2012, at the Good Samaritan Center in George, Iowa.

Margaret Mae Snuttjer was born January 7, 1927, at Sioux City, Iowa, the adopted daughter of Fred and Lena (Stomberg) Hass. Margaret grew up on the family farm just one mile north of George and attended country school north of George. Following the death of her mother Lena, her father married Martha Stomberg who became Margaret’s second mother. She was united in marriage to John Snuttjer on September 6, 1946.

The couple made their home on a farm north of George where John and Margaret farmed for many years. She was a homemaker and often helped John with the many farming tasks. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who deeply loved her family. Margaret was an excellent cook and baker, she enjoyed gardening and crocheting. For several years she operated a thrift shop in her basement on the farm. Along with being active in church she loved to entertain with family and friends and spend time at Lake Okoboji in the summers. Margaret became a resident of the George Good Samaritan Society where she died this past Monday morning, December 31, 2012 at the age of eighty-five.

Margaret is survived by her four children: Larry (Shirley) Snuttjer of Sioux Falls, SD; Jean (Larry) DeClercq of Sioux Falls, SD; Randy (Denise) Snuttjer of Bennett, CO, and Lori (Tim) Eiesland of Minneapolis, MN; eight grandchildren: Kristin (Dana) Brown, Karmin DeClercq (Tom McDonald), Ann Snuttjer, Mark Snuttjer, Adrienne (Kerry) Roberts, Jason Dailey (April Waisenen), Mike Snuttjer (Jacey Larner Lewis) and Olivia Eiesland; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lena, Fred and Martha; her husband, John; and a brother, Robert.
