Otto Fred Haegele – February 12, 1902 – January 21, 1994

Otto Fred Haegele was born February 12, 1902 southwest of Lester, Iowa, the son of Fred and Anna [Wiese] Haegele. Otto grew up in the Lester area and graduated from Lester High School.

On Feb 20, 1928 Otto was united in marriage to Colette Powers, and following their marriage they farmed near Lester until retiring in 1962. On September 19, 197, Colette, Otto's wife of forty-three years died. Otto continued to make his home on the farm, until moving into Lester in 1974.

On November 22, 1974 he was united in marriage to Maurine Stuerman in Lester and following their marriage they lived in Lester. Otto was a man who enjoyed working with his hands, by either building something or inventing something that made a job easier. He also worked at the Hillside Cemetery and volunteered to help others in the Lester community.

For many years Otto faithfully attended the United Methodist church in Lester. Last Friday Otto died at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids, Iowa at the age of ninety-one.

Surviving, his wife of nineteen years, Maurine of Lester, two step-sons, Harold Zornig of Hull, GA and William Zornig of Rock Rapids, IA; three step-daughters, Lennea Cose of Larchwood, IA; Joyce Haegele of Jacksonville, FL; and Jeanette Stadtfeld of Sioux Falls, SD. Also surviving are fifteen step-grandchildren, twenty-four step-great grandchildren, and two step-great-great-grandchildren; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Proceding Otto in death were his parents; his first wife, Colette; his two sisters, and three brothers.--Blessed Be His Memory
