Inwood, Iowa -- Jeanette Groen, 86, of Inwood, and formerly of Rock Valley, died Monday, May 28, 2012 at Fellowship Village, Inwood. Funeral Service will be 10:30 Thursday at Netherlands Reformed Congregation, Rock Valley. Burial at Valley View Cemetery. Rev. P.L. Bazen will be officiating. Visitation with family present will be 6:30-8 pm Wednesday at Porter Funeral Home, Rock Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Fellowship Village or Netherlands Reformed Christian School. Condolences may be left for the family at www.porterfuneralhomes.com.

Jeanette was born June 4, 1925 in Sioux County, Iowa near Hudson, SD., daughter of Joe and Coba (Jacobsma) Groeneweg. She married John Groen on February 6, 1946 at Rock Valley. Together they farmed near Inwood until moving to Hudson in 1971 and to Rock Valley in 1989. Jeanette worked at Otis Radio at Canton, SD and later at Valley Manor in Rock Valley and was a Foster Grandparent at Hope Haven for many years. John died on January 24, 1998. Jeanette moved to Fellowship Village at Inwood on April 6, 2005.

Jeanette is survived by two daughters, Joy (Jay) Van Den Top of Larchwood, Iowa, Carolyn (Gary) Rindels of Mountain Home, Arkansas; four grandchildren, Sandra (Tom) Hoefakker, Scott (Cindy) Van Den Top, Joel (Carrie) Van Den Top, Ryan (Heather) Van Den Top; step-granddaughter, Jess; 11 great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; sisters-in-law, Pauline Groen of Fairview, SD, Angeline Groen of Brookings, SD.

Jeanette was preceded in death by her husband, John; parents, Joe and Coba Groeneweg; brother, Paul Groeneweg; sisters, Tena Ver Burg, Adrianna Hoogendoorn, and Pearl Groen.
